Matariki EDUCATION PROGRAMME

The dawn rising of Matariki heralds the beginning of the Maori New Year festival.
Discover how Matariki’s position in the sky was once used as a way to organise society. A sign to plant, gather and store kai as well as a navigational tool.
Students will explore what life was like pre European times and have the opportunity to weave with harakeke (flax).
(Suitable for Year 1-10 students)
