John Danks collects radios – a great many of them exotic novelty art radios. He will explain why radios are, to him, a joy.

Rotorua collector John Danks began his fascination with radios as boy. ‘To me it was magic to be able to bring music and transmissions from all over the world into your own home,’ Over the years he has accumulated a huge archive, with a particular passion for radios made by a small manufacturer, F J Mountjoy of Auckland – hence the name for his display. Pearlescent dials, tombstone shapes, even a radio in the shape of a robot – these and many more will go on show to re-capture the golden years of radio.
