
Eru George: Te Arawa – He Anga Whakamua

Eru George is chairperson of Te Pumautanga ô Te Arawa, a powerful body which represents around 24,000 people from eleven Te Arawa iwi and hapu. Their vast area of interest covers over 500,000 hectares.
Since
October 2003 Te Pumautanga ô Te Arawa has negotiated with the Crown for settlement of more than 80 outstanding land claims: the resulting 2006 settlement includes significant cultural and commercial redress. George explains he anga whakamau – the way forward.
