War in Paradise – the unofficial story of New Zealand soldiers in New Caledonia 1942-1944

Starts: Friday, September 4, 2009
Finishes: Sunday, November 29, 2009

During World War II the Third New Zealand Division was stationed in New Caledonia.

The exhibition, which has been developed by the Museum of Wellington City and Sea with support from the Government and Provinces of New Caledonia, casts light on largely ignored aspects of our World War II experience. The story unfolds through official photographs and diaries and is counterpointed by contemporary photographs by Paul Thompson.
