Rollicking out of the woolliest corners of West Auckland come The Nukes, ready to educate and entertain at the Princes Gate Monarch Room on Saturday 29 July 2017.
Hosted by Rotorua Museum and Rotorua’s own Thermaleles, The Nukes are fast gaining a reputation for reckless and riveting live performances where a fine blend of folk, bluegrass, reggae and post punk is caressed, coaxed and beaten out of three innocent wee ukuleles.
Take the opportunity to learn from the best with two one-hour ukulele workshops (maximum 35 per workshop) planned for 4pm (level 1) and 5.30pm (level 2).
Following the workshops be amazed at the tunes and beats coming from the humble ukulele as The Thermaleles kick off the concert at 7.45pm, followed by the memorable Nukes.
Doors open for the concert at 7.15pm. The bar will be open and snacks and light meals will be available.
The Nukes comprise of Dave “Fingers of fire” Parker, David “Snapper” Thiele and Benjamin “Country boy” Collier. Part vaudeville, part rat-pack, part musical car crash, this talented trio deliver an engaging mix of humour and originality that audiences love.
The Nukes have toured extensively throughout New Zealand and Australia sharing their quirky brand of ukulele brilliance, three part vocal harmonies, blistering riffs, riotous rhythms and questionable dance moves.
Workshop plus concert @ $30
Concert only, adults (booked in advance) @ $20
Concert only, child (under 16) @ $15
Concert only (door sales) @ $25
