For over 35 years a curious hybrid known as Tudor Towers operated in the Bath House building. It was the place to be for three (often outrageous) decades.
Influential music acts from New Zealand and overseas performed on its sunken dance floor, and later on an elaborate multi-tiered faux-Tudor stage.
Despite damage to the Bath House over the years it can be said that Tudor Towers saved the ailing and dilapidated spa building. The success of Tudor Towers ensured the building stayed intact and, more importantly, it brought people back to the Bath House.
This long term exhibition traces the Tudor Towers story from beginnings in 1965 as an elegant restaurant that brought fine dining to Rotorua, through the era of the successful Top of the Towers Cabaret of the 1970s to Tudor Towers Promotions of the 1980s.
The exhibition will be on display in the upper foyer of Rotorua Museum from 5 July 2008.
