A comprehensive assessment of Rotorua Museum has shown it falls well below earthquake safety standards and will need to remain closed to the public for the foreseeable future.
The good news is that it can be fixed. How that happens, how long it will take and how much it will cost now needs to be determined.
We are still providing a range of services ‘beyond the walls’ including education programmes, events, and free guided tours of Government Gardens at 11am and 2pm daily (weather dependent) – taking in the buildings, battles and historic places of these magnificent grounds. Later this year we will also host the Rotorua Museum Art Awards at the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre.
