  • What’s on with Rotorua Museum: July – August 2017

    Rotorua Museum is pleased to announce the return of the biennial Art Awards for 2017. The volunteers that provide free ‘outside-the-walls’ guided tours of Government Gardens have just won the Supreme Award at the 2017 Trustpower Rotorua Lakes Community Awards! Our new blog started in May and will explore a wide range of topics from Pacific Island Language Weeks to Tarawera sausages and much more. Events coming up include a talk celebrating Norma Evans, July School Holiday fun for all the family, ukulele workshops and concerts and a call for those with a passion for sewing.

  • What’s on with Rotorua Museum: May – June 2017

    The building that houses Rotorua Museum remains closed following earthquake damage and we are currently awaiting a final seismic assessment. In the meantime, we are continuing to host daily tours, as well as events, exhibitions and education programmes in various locations around Rotorua. Top Art and Muka Prints are two great youth focussed exhibitions on in May and we start Matariki celebrations with a range of events in June.

  • What’s On with Rotorua Museum – March-April 2017

    While Rotorua Museum is still not open we have a range of events and exhibitions happening at different venues. Check out Da Vinci Machines & Robots before it closes on 26 March.
    The annual Great Rotorua Museum Easter Egg Hunt has moved outside and giant eggs will be hidden throughout Government Gardens these April school holidays. Free drop in crafts will be available most weekdays in Te Rūnanga Tea House. Fun for all the family!

  • Shaken not Stirred – Rotorua Museum Whats on Dec 2016/Jan 2017

    The 7.8 magnitude earthquake in the South Island of New Zealand, on 14 November 2016 caused significant damage to the central part of the Bath House building in which Rotorua Museum is housed. The decision was made to close the Museum to the public, pending further investigation. At this stage Rotorua Museum is closed until at least April 2017.
