With school holidays here we have some great activities to keep little hands and minds busy – check out our dinosaur holiday crafts and Crack the Code below. The unique designs in the exhibition David Trubridge: So Far have been amazing visitors since it opened last week. Enjoy a diverse selection of beautiful and unusual works from the Museum collection in the exhibition Pick & Mix. Plus two exhibitions of historical photographs from our collection open later this month.

Rotorua Museum’s spring programme offers a fresh new mix of exhibitions and events. Homegrown international design features in the exhibition David Trubridge: So Far, and David himself will be giving a free talk on 20 September. We look at the story behind the first Dinosaur Footprints ever found in New Zealand, and Dr Hamish Campbell is here on 14 September to tell us all about them. Dinosaurs are the theme for our fun school holiday mask-making crafts, and ‘Crack the Code’ is back with cool prizes up for grabs.

Rotorua Museum has some great exhibitions and events on during August. Come in and see Great War Stories which tells some of the incredible stories of World War One through treasures contributed by the Rotorua community. Phantom City is proving popular with visitors and kids are enjoying building their own expanding Phantom City every Sunday in August.
Plus, check out works by Barry Brickell, one of New Zealand’s most endearing potters, in His Own Steam.

Come down to our Matariki family celebrations this Saturday for star gazing, crafts, face painting and other fun entertainment.
Opening this weekend Phantom City explores abandoned cityscapes of the past and future through contemporary artworks. Our July school holiday craft activities are based on creating your own Phantom City. Great War Stories, our community exhibition commemorating 100 years since the start of World War One, opens on 2 July 2014.

This winter Rotorua Museum commemorates World War One with an exhibition of powerful Rotorua stories from the ‘Great War’. His Own Steam celebrates one of New Zealand’s most endearing potters, Barry Brickell. We invite you to explore alternative views of the cities we live in through our contemporary art exhibition Phantom City. June sees the star constellation Matariki appear in our skies and Rotorua Museum has a wonderful evening of entertainment planned in our Matariki Wh?nau Night.

As the days get colder, Rotorua Museum will warm you up with some fantastic new exhibitions, talks and events. Opening this month is the wonderful Barry Brickell show His Own Steam. Te Ara provides a poignant photographic survey of Maori leadership – past, present and future, and the fabulous Dennis K. Turner exhibition A Continuous Line is here until 15 June. Keep an eye out for John Roy’s installations Safety in Numbers and have some fun with the kids trying to find them all.

Rotorua Museum has some fantastic exhibitions on throughout April. From contemporary photography to fine art, from 70s fashion to M?ori leadership there is something for everyone. Kids will be kept busy during the holidays with The Great Rotorua Museum Easter Egg Hunt and free craft activities. On ANZAC day, Rotorua Museum will open early. We invite visitors to leave a message on the remembrance boards in honour of all soldiers.
