Museum Service Update – November 2023

With the Museum redevelopment now confirmed, the Museum team is focused on reopening the Museum as soon as possible. As a result, many of our Museum team resources are now redirected into researching and developing the new exhibitions, and preparing the required collection items for display.

The services currently available from the Museum team are listed below, as well as those that we have had to pause whilst the focus of our work shifts into the exhibition development project. The status of services will be updated as things change so please keep an eye on this page for any changes.

We apologise for any inconvenience that limiting and pausing some of our services may cause.

EDUCATION SERVICES: will continue as normal. For education enquiries and bookings Email

GENERAL ENQUIRIES: responses to simple enquiries will continue as normal. However, other than in exceptional circumstances, we are currently unable to fulfil more complex enquiries requiring significant staff time.

INCOMING LOANS: New loans to the collection are currently paused, unless they are required for the exhibition development project.

LOANED ITEMS: If lenders require access to loaned items please give us as much notice as possible to ensure we can fulfil your requests.

LOAN REQUESTS: All loan requests are currently paused.

PÄ€TAKA VISITS & TOURS: Physical access to our collection store will depend on staff availability.

RESEARCH ENQUIRIES & IMAGE REQUESTS: Simple research and image requests will continue to be fulfilled where possible. However, other than in exceptional circumstances, enquiries with more complex or time-consuming requirements are currently paused. In-person research access to the collection is currently paused unless it is required for the exhibition development project.
